In their practice as social workers, graduates demonstrate professional, trauma-informed, family centered, self-reflective, and ethical behavior across all areas of practice. Required courses provide a balance between theory and practice. Students begin their training with two required courses in Human Behavior in. the Social Environment and a course in Human Diversity. Required practicum work is accompanied by four required Field Education Internship courses. Professional counseling skills are taught in Psychopathology, Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment, Trauma Theory and Treatment, and Addictions Assessment and Treatment. Key leadership approaches are covered in Social Work Policy, Social Policy & Social Policy Practice, and Social Work Research I and II. Students learn management skills in Trauma-Informed Policy and Social Work Administration. Students learn key professional skills in Social Work Practice I and II and Social Work Practice with Families I and II.
