A distinctive feature of the NCSU MBA curriculum is the option to choose a concentration in SAP software, a leading software platform used to manage business processes and operations. In addition to this concentration, students can choose from concentrations in finance, operations and supply chain management, marketing; technology entrepreneurship and commercialization, business analytics, or business leadership. The technology commercialization and entrepreneurship concentration offers a unique opportunity to learn how to take a technology innovation from idea to market.
Alongside 14 credits of electives, which include concentration courses, students at NCSU take a streamlined core curriculum. The curriculum is built on foundational courses in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Essential Economics for Managers. Students take a substantial tranche of courses related to decision-making: Data Driven Managerial Decisions I and I, and Critical Thinking for Managers. Advanced topics are covered in Financial Management of Corporations, Principles of Operations & Supply Chain Management and Marketing Management and Strategy. Creating Value in Organizations teaches students how to build sustainable operations, while a required MBA Analytics/Quantitative Course builds these key data competencies.
All students are required to complete a practicum partnering them with a business or other organization. A capstone residency is also required.
